Oklahoma flooding has killed a woman and a child, police say, as the region has been hit by severe storms this weekend.

Additional heavy rain is expected across the Plains this week. With streams already swollen and the ground saturated, that leaves the area at risk of additional flooding.

Heavy rainfall swept across north-central Texas and eastern Oklahoma, with 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 centimetres) falling in many areas. In Moore, a suburb south of Oklahoma City, police received dozens of reports of vehicles stranded in floodwaters.
