The Obelisk or Theodosius Obelisk is an Ancient Egyptian obelisk located on the south side of Sultanahmet Square, next to the Serpent Column. It was brought from Egypt by the Roman emperor Theodosius I in 390 AD and erected in its current place. The obelisk was made of red Aswan granite and was originally 30 m high.
