On March 11, 1996 WWF Monday Night Raw aired from the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. Then 24-year old Mark Henry made his WWF debut. Henry got into a confrontation with Jerry "The King" Lawler and gorilla pressed him after Lawler was ridiculing him during an interview. After Henry competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics, the WWF signed him to a ten-year contract. Trained by professional wrestler Leo Burke, his first feud in the WWF would be with Lawler. | Davenport Sports Network

On March 11, 1996 WWF Monday Night Raw aired from the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. Steve Austin debuted in the WWF in early 1996 as “The Ringmaster”. This match against Savio Vega marked the first time Austin would be referred to as "Stone Cold.” The new name was prompted by his then-wife Jeanie, an English woman who had made a cup of tea for him and told him to drink it before it became "Stone Cold". His new persona was inspired by real life murderer "The Iceman" Richard Kukliński. |
