This time last year, we were visiting Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. This castle was King Ludwig II’s fairy tale castle that he had built to satisfy his childlike whims. It’s an impressive sight where everything is so over the top and opulent. Because it was built like that, it has no actual defensive function. Neuschwanstein Castle is an absolute MUST-SEE in Germany - and may soon be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The townspeople of the Bavarian municipality of Schwangau have voted: Neuschwanstein will apply to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in early 2024, along with the castles of Herrenchiemsee, Linderhof, and Schachen.⁠ ⁠ What are your thoughts?
