Important vintage cast iron may not weld with any process , carbon, sand , etc being present in a high percentage

2011年12月31日 · There may be better but on a recommendation from a shop that use to repair old cast iron pumps, I used Weld Mold rods (WM.706.E.125.14A) to repair a big hunk of broken cylinder flange on our Rumely. Made short passes, immediately got after it w/ a needle scaler to peen it and then let it cool to the touch before repeating.

2010年1月25日 · Between this site and every other welding site on the internet the subject of welding cast iron comes up often and all to often everyone has their own way of doing it. Whether it be brazing with brass, brazing with cast iron rod, stick welding with nickel, stick welding with low hydrogen, etc.... I am no metalurgist or anything close to one ...

2015年4月9日 · Try Lincoln Electric SOFTWELD 99Ni CAST IRON WELDING RODS. Easily available at any Lincoln distributor. The cast iron needs to be clean inside and out. Cast iron is porous and if old, holds a lot of oil etc. The welding will bring this oil out and mess up the weld. You may need to heat the part up to boil out this old oil first.

2019年3月12日 · Dad was a certified ship welder and 808 was the only thing he would use for cast welding. I’ve heard good things about Muggyweld and a few others but I’ve had good success with the 808’s and will stick with them.

I am a welder by trade and the best thing that I know of to weld cast iron is a stick rod called Certanium. It is a very good rod and you don’t have to be a pro to use it. 2014年4月17日 · Borax is a good flux but it will not work real well for welding that cast rod. We use that cast rod for welding manifolds and anything where heat is going to be around the cast. Everything else we weld with bronze, it is stronger than the cast rod and is easier to get. The new cast rod is about $30.00 a pound so it is not real cheap!!!!

2011年3月8日 · I would like to weld it with a cast iron rod to emulate the original cast iron. I will need to be able to file the weld to match an original machined surface. I'm not a welder and will have to take this to someone to do. I have a friend who does cast welding and he will be using a stick welder. Searching the internet, I found PALCO 808 rod.
