Sharapanjara is a 1971 Indian Kannada-language film directed by Puttanna Kanagal. Starring Kalpana, K.S. Ashwath, and Ganapathi Bhat in lead roles, this film is a poignant social drama that takes a critical look at societal norms and constraints that stifle women's freedom and agency.

Summary: Based on Triveni's novel The culmination of Kalpana’s long association with Kanagal (cf. Bellimoda, 1967; Gejje Pooje, 1970). The happily married Kaveri (Kalpana) becomes pregnant and suffers an attack of hysteria in which she recalls having gone to Nanjangud on a picnic with an unnamed man.

The film revolves around the issues of a woman's chastity, the acceptance of mentally ill by society and unfaithful spouses. The story starts with the chance meeting of the heroine Kaveri (Kalpana) and the hero Sathish (Gangadhar). Sathish falls in love with Kaveri who is educated, sophisticated, beautiful and hails from a respectable family.
