My understanding is that the TARDIS outer shell can form any shape it pleases. The outer shell is just the entry point to the interior. The interior is a separate "pocket" universe. Within this universe the TARDIS can create matter at will in a direct energy to matter conversion (and the reverse) and is powered by a blackhole.

From 2010-2013, this blue was just referred to as “TARDIS blue” in the show. However, does anyone know the exact type of blue that it is? Because this kind of blue is certainly one of my favourites and I would like to know what blue it is.

The TARDIS is the most advanced space and time ship out there, so the control panel should be simple to use, intuitive, with the least amount of blocking happening to the user.
