Disproportionately Loud Snare Drum? - [DFO] Drum Forum
2017年12月3日 · In my opinion the snare drum itself matters surprisingly little, maybe we feel that some certain snares sound brighter, but usually the drummers who have trouble with this subject will continue having trouble no matter what the drum is changed to. But I have taken drums that are considered loud. like bell brass, to gigs where we need to play soft.
Should I get more strands or less (snare wire) - [DFO] Drum Forum
2010年7月16日 · With the snare drum on the stand, slowly turn the snares on and make sure they're touching the head evenly. As for fewer or more snare wires, fewer snare wires will lessen sensitivity and create a harsher sound. More snare wires will tend to dry out the drum, but give a more full snare sound.
Snare drum for low volume situations | [DFO] Drum Forum
2011年6月5日 · Here's a trick I learned from my mentor years ago: His snare was a 6 1/2 X 14 chrome Slingerland. He cut four small block-shaped pieces of one-inch thick foam rubber and glued them to the inside of the shell. They didn't touch the batter head or the snare head; they were there to muffle the shell response. The drum sounded great!
SNARE DEPTH - [DFO] Drum Forum
2010年3月4日 · The pitch of the drum is created more by head diameter and tuning than depth. Depth effects the sound of a drum or timbre. In a live situation, I often go for the 5, just to get enough snare sound into the system. In studio, it could be anything from a 3 1/2 to an 8 inch depth. Anything 6 1/2 or more USUALLY has a snare side mic on it.
why does my snare sound like a tom? | [DFO] Drum Forum
2009年5月14日 · There are way too many unknowns here, but I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that you've got the snare tension knob cranked way too tight, which chokes the snare response to the point that there is none and your snare sounds like a tom tom. Try loosening it and see if the response returns.
Why Does My Snare Sound Like This? - [DFO] Drum Forum
2019年10月28日 · Example: My snare was sounding fine until it suddenly started to have this terrible buzz and ring to it. I tried loosening and tightening the top skin, bottom skin, snare wires and also put different combinations of blu-tack on the top and bottom as dampeners but nothing fixes the horrible...
RB Gretsch snares - good for "fat" sound? - [DFO] Drum Forum
2014年8月22日 · The RB drums sound as one might expect - fantastic. Saying this, I am aware of the RB snare drums sounding "boxy." I love the sound of the wood-shelled 6-lug Gretsch drum I have. Saying this, I think it could find new appreciation for those looking for a snare drum sound that is both vintage and modern.
Snare Drum Tension.. how can I tell if it is low, mid or high
2013年12月6日 · Listen closely as the drummer slowly engages the snares. About half way to its full rest position, you can hear the snare sound bright and able to produce whatever resonance it can under the circumstances, but once he clicks the strainer lever into the lock position, the snare simply dies and possesses only a hint of the ring that it is capable of.
wrap changes the sound? Anyone admits it? - [DFO] Drum Forum
2012年1月31日 · Putting a coat of paint or varnish inside a drum seems to make it a little louder. I've just wrapped a Ludwig Classic Birch snare, I'm going to play it for a while without tampering with the inside and see how it goes, but if I need it to project a little more I'm going to paint the inside (or take the wrap off and sell it off if need be).
