2022年11月3日 · Not looking to LARP (okay, looking to LARP a little otherwise I wouldn’t be on this sub) and I’m a big chest rig & vest/battle jacket fan and after factoring in the price of quality pouches for my carrier I’m thinking of running a slick vest with a Pattern 83 Battle Jacket. Jacket would, also double in use while hiking and camping.

2020年5月18日 · The 3- and 9-o'clock waist pouches are made for SADF 2L canteens and are somewhat rectangular in shape, but they're very useful as utility pouches should you forgo the canteens. There are pouches provided for up to 10 magazines.

2021年12月20日 · They have the battle jacket as surplus occasionally. The repros will be of the pat 83 chest rigs in ranger green and the original nutria. They also will be doing a modernized "p84" chest rig in multicam and mc black.

2024年1月20日 · IMHO, user-configurable MOLLE II vest, set up to suit the user, and with most items located on the waist belt, would be superior to the SADF vest in many ways, not least for hot/humid climates. Cost for such a rig would likely be considerably less than the SADF rig, as others have noted.

2022年8月2日 · My old SADF P83 battle jacket has seen years of use from air soft, hunting, and actual practice/training at the range. It’s developed tears and holes that I’ve patched. But now I’ve gotten a chance to actually look at all of it under a set of NVGs and it glows brighter than a bad fed post thanks to all the patches.

2021年7月24日 · I'd get a smersh. The battle jacket is a bit less comfortable in my opinion and not as big guy friendly. It has more storage than a smersh rig, but it doesn't do well with bulkier warming layers if thats what you are carrying. I sold my battle jacket and kept my smersh. The p83 is more AR mag friendly though if that is a consideration.

2022年3月6日 · The battle jacket is really great for carrying loads of stuff (and it looks just cool as hell). Unfortunately the replica versions are not as great. They come in "chinese size", so everything about them is smaller than the original. The size itself, bt also the pouches are shrunken. If you really want a battle jacket try soursing original surplus.

2023年6月19日 · Got bored with my British surplus vest so decided to see what I could do to make an "at home" clone of the SADF battle jacket with random stuff I already had. An assortment of surplus and Chinese manufactured pouches attached later, here we are. 11 STANAG mags, 2 pistol mags, 3 canteen pouches, medical, and finally general purpose on the back.

2023年7月4日 · Actually working with a friend of mine to develop a modern battle jacket. Similar in design to the Karrimor SF Predator Vest (was discontinued in '16) and taking attributes from the excellent custom battle jackets made by Kennedy Nylon Designs.
