Originally from Toronto, Canada, Rick is a director, choreographer, and producer who has worked across the US, in China, and in Russia. As co-founder of production company Kuperman Brothers, he helped bring a new form of immersive entertainment to Beijing, and has worked in the musical theater, stadium concert, and TV formats.

Rick and Jeff are a directing and choreography team for stage and screen. Recent highlights: co-directing and choreographing Life & Trust (for Emursive of Sleep No More); and choreographing the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical The Outsiders (Tony, Drama Desk, OCC, and Chita Rivera Nominations for Best Choreography).

We choreographed The Outsiders, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical along with the Tony Awards for Best Direction, Best Sound Design, and Best Lighting Design. The show was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including for Best Choreography. The directing and choreography work of Rick & Jeff Kuperman.

2024年4月8日 · Known for their witty and athletic movement style, Canadian brothers Rick and Jeff Kuperman trained as competition dancers and martial artists before launching their careers with downtown New York City shows featuring, as Rick puts it, “very small budgets and huge amounts of collaboration and creativity.”

“Life and Trust” is choreographed by Jeff and Rick Kuperman, a sibling pair who worked on the Tony Award-winning “The Outsiders” (which also got a nom for choreography!). Their work is performed by a talented cast of 41 dancers, who unspool the plot through gorgeous, nearly dialogue-free movement.

Rick and Jeff are a directing and choreography team for stage and screen. Originally from Toronto, they grew up together training in the dance studio, in the dojo, and on film sets. Rick went on to study psychology and dramatic arts at Harvard, and Jeff to study English literature and theater at Princeton.
