1999年12月16日 · Perhaps the best use of prime coat is to protect the subbase that has been compacted and accepted but the base course of asphalt will not be placed immediately. e.g. Acceptance on Friday, weather event expected over the weekend, base course scheduled for Monday = Prime. Tack coat is best applied when overlaying or if the previous layer has cooled.

2009年9月1日 · Due to frost concerns in our locale, subbase is usually thicker (12" to 48")and asphalt thinner, often 2" asphalt & 2" base course. So 5" sounds like a lot to me. There have been discussions here whether prime coat & tack coat are worthwhile, I think not worth it unless there are delays & exposure to weather, etc during construction.

2018年8月31日 · OTOH, bolts come in a higher grade, so have increased strength for the same size. They're also simpler to install for embedment, since there's no tack welding, peening, punching, etc. to keep a nut in place. Also, no question of whether the nut actually got installed.

2009年1月9日 · A primer or tack coat is generally not needed. Yes, an overlay may be applied on top of a slurry seal, once it has weathered a bit. If you are referring to a coal tar emulsion, I would not put an overlay over one of these until it had completely weathered.
