Narrow orchard systems for pome and stone fruit—a review
2024年12月1日 · The concept of narrow fruiting canopies can be applied to many fruit crops, with tree and row spacing criteria altered to suit crop characteristics, cultivar vegetative and fruiting habit, a range of available rootstock vigours, and the interaction of the environmental conditions (particularly soil type) with the scion and rootstock.
Narrow orchard systems for pome and stone fruit-a review
2024年12月1日 · The main characteristics of Narrow Orchard Systems (NOS) are (i) narrow canopies, with (ii) multiple closely-spaced upright leaders and (iii) narrow inter-rows, regardless of tree spacing...
How narrow can we go? - Australian Tree Crop
A new Hort Innovation Frontiers project is about to explore planting stone and pome fruit trees in 2m rows with canopies as narrow as a pair of secateurs. And it’s not about increasing the density of trees but planting trees at 2-3m down each row.
(1) Registered Trees in a Mother Block. Each registered tree may be given a visual inspection annually. Index testing may be required for registered trees in a mother block ten years from the planting date of the trees or sooner if virus infection is suspected. (2) Nursery Increase Block, Certified Block, Registered Rootstock Stool Block.

Production Performance of Narrow Row 2D Fruit Orchards
This PhD project will study the impact of planting stone and pome fruit trees in very narrow rows at 2 m apart and training trees to create a thin wall of foliage. The project will utilise a newly established apple, pear, cherry, plum and nectarine narrow row 2D experimental orchard at the Tatura SmartFarm to:
Planting systems for fruit trees in temperate climates
2008年12月2日 · Developments in intensification of pome‐fruit orchards have led to changes in orchard design. Dwarfing rootstocks increase the proportion of harvestable yield. Precocious and high yields are also obtained with high light utilization, which can be achieved by manipulating planting density and planting system.
Narrow orchard systems for pome and stone fruit—a review
The main characteristics of Narrow Orchard Systems (NOS) are (i) narrow canopies, with (ii) multiple closely-spaced upright leaders and (iii) narrow inter-rows, regardless of tree spacing within the row.
Determination of the tree row volume in stone‐fruit orchards as a …
The tree row volume model is a method for adapting dosage and spray volumes to tree crops. The method can potentially facilitate the comparison of field efficacy trials and can contribute to fanners’effective and rational use of plant protection products. It has been developed and applied in pome fruit but not yet in stone fruit.
