Monju Nuclear Power Plant - Wikipedia
Monju (もんじゅ) was a Japanese sodium-cooled fast reactor, located near the Tsuruga Nuclear Power Plant, Fukui Prefecture. Its name is a reference to Manjusri. Construction started in 1986 and the reactor achieved criticality for the first time in April 1994. The reactor has been inoperative for most of the time since it was originally built.
Case 1: Fire by Sodium Coolant Leak at Prototype Fast Breeder …
Case 1 of Teaching Case Studies of Accidents in Nuclear Energy Development in Japan describes a fire caused by a massive sodium coolant leak at the Monju fast breeder reactor.
Following a programmed shutdown, Monju restarted operation on December 6, 1995. On December 8, while power was being raised for a plant trip test as part of the 40% electric power test (thermal power 43%), a high sodium temperature alarm at the outlet of the IHX in SHTS Loop C
Prototype reactor Monju - ScienceDirect
2022年1月1日 · The prototype fast breeder reactor “Monju” is a loop-type sodium-cooled fast neutron reactor with an electric power of 300 MW developed in Japan. The initial criticality was achieved in 1994, and the reactor power reached 40% of the rated power in 1995.
Sodium leakage experience at the prototype FBR Monju - OSTI.GOV
2000年10月1日 · Monju is Japan's prototype fast breeder reactor: 280 MWe (714 MWt), fueled with mixed oxides of plutonium and uranium, cooled by liquid sodium. Construction was started in 1985 and initial criticality was attained in April 1994. On 8th December 1995, sodium leakage from a secondary circuit occurred in a piping room of the reactor auxiliary ...
As a part of the work for investigating the sodium leak accident which occurred in Monju on December 8, 1995, three tests, (1) sodium leak test, (2) sodium fire test-I, and (3) sodium fire test-II, were carried out at OEC/PNC. Main objectives of these tests are to confirm leak and burning
