HAL Laboratory, Inc. was founded in 1980 by Mitsuhiro Ikeda and it was first seen in Mr. Chin. By 2020, HAL Laboratory reused their first logo for the Pasocom Mini (launched that year in Japan). This logo continued until 1993, in which it was replaced with the HALKEN logo.

The company's current logo, Inutamago, was created in 1998 by Shigesato Itoi. The imagery is meant to represent "an unexpected bond [...] one that brings the birth of something new". Reception was reportedly lukewarm at first. [12][13]

On The Adventures of Lolo, the " HAI " is seen in pink on a sky blue background, with a notable segmented appearance to it. No copyright info is seen. On The Adventures of Lolo II and III, the logo's space is confined to a long black bar, surrounded by blue.

The Dream Hatcher has been the symbol of HAL Laboratory since December 1998. The logo immediately preceding the Dream Hatcher, seen in games like Kirby Super Star and Kirby's Dream Land 3, was the "spring" logo (「バネ」マーク) introduced in February of 1991.
