Valdez Arm supports the largest recreational fishery in Prince William Sound (PWS) and the largest pink salmon commercial fishery in the state. Anglers fishing from Valdez account for nearly one-half the fishing effort in all the Sound. There is a large security buffer zone around the Alyeska Pipeline terminus. Boat trafic is not allowed.

Anglers visiting the Valdez area are sure to be pleased with the wide variety of fishing excursions available to them departing daily from the town’s small boat harbor. From reeling in giant halibut to fighting an Alaska silver salmon, there’s something for fishermen of every level.

Valdez halibut fishing is unique because of the tours that go along with the trip. Most fishing takes place 70-100 miles from Valdez, on the way you can expect to see whales, porpoise, sea lions, seals, bears, eagles, and many other species of birds.

Valdez Saltwater Adventures is an outdoors oriented business in Valdez Alaska that provides Halibut fishing charters on the Bold Eagle charter boat. We target Halibut, Rockfish, Lingcod, and Salmon. We actively participate are a preferred charter for the Valdez Fishing Derbies.

The halibut fishing is incredible and Valdez is certainly high on the list of the hottest halibut fisheries. Alaskan halibut grow to be giant "barn door" fish and it is common for us to catch several fish exceeding 100 lbs each season.

Valdez is best known for its halibut, silver salmon, and pink salmon fishing but there’s also some good bottom fishing for rockfish and lingcod. Salmon shark are known catch targets for sport anglers as are shrimp for local harvesters.
