Through participation in Competitive Events, FCCLA members acquire industry insights and employable skills required to thrive in the 21st Century. Members can select from over 50 Competitive Events that employ skills and knowledge learned through Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education.

Online STAR Events focus on integrating Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) content through digital delivery. The following events also have an online preliminary round of competition at the national level.

Join FCCLA in Orlando, FL this summer from July 5-July 9 for the Ultimate Leadership Experience at the 2025 National Leadership Conference! All affiliated members and advisers are invited to attend.

Competitive Events provide additional opportunities to showcase college and career-ready knowledge, skills , and abilities; promote the FCCLA chapter as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education program; and connect with peers and the community.

The STAR Events are contests in 23 career-related areas that prepare members of the California FCCLA for the world of work. These events extend classroom learning and give students recognition and a sense of achievement while developing skills for future careers.

Nebraska FCCLA offers four different competitive event opportunities as part of the annual State Leadership Conference. None of these state-level competitions are connected to the national competitive events described above, except STAR Events.
