The Dennis Dart is a rear-engined single-decker midibus chassis that was introduced by Dennis of Guildford, England, in 1989, replacing the Dennis Domino. Initially built as a high-floor design, in 1996 the low-floor second generation Dennis Dart SLF was launched.

The superbly modernistic body was envisaged as the sole body for the new chassis, Duple and Dennis both being part of the Hestair group of companies. The combination was first put together in demonstrator form in 1988, but London Buses insisted on a short 8.5metre version in order to make the most of the current financial regime: the DT was born.

DA 1-20: The first Darts appeared in LGOC service in the eight months from April 1930. DA1 went to Hounslow, probably for training, then joined five more at Hanwell in June for Uxbridge services 505 and 506. These had been operated by K-type single-deckers. A new 507 route was started in September when enough buses were available.
