Deer Cave (Malay: Gua Rusa), located near Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, is a show cave attraction of Gunung Mulu National Park. It was surveyed in 1961 by G. E. Wilford of the British Borneo Geological Survey, who predicted that Mulu would yield many more caves in the future. [3]

Deer Cave is reached by following a three kilometer plankwalk which passes through peat swamp, alluvial flats and limestone outcrops. There is much to see on the way to the cave, including some superb rainforest, jungle streams and an ancient Penan burial cave.

Deer Cave – over 2km long and 174m high – is the world’s largest cave passage open to the public, while Lang Cave – more understated in its proportions – contains interesting stalactites and stalagmites.

The enormous Deer Cave is the most visited cave in the park. It is over 2 km in length and 174 metres high. A 3.8 kilometre raised plankwalk runs from the park headquarters to the entrance of the cave.

Deer Cave - The largest cave in the world by diameter! The Deer Cave is a real eye-opener, because in some places the height from floor to ceiling is up to 100m! Millions of bats live in the cave, different species in different cave sections. And in good weather (not in rain!) they fly out of the cave in a huge cloud between 5-6 pm.
