Bhakra Nangal Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Satluj River in Bhakra Village in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The dam forms the Gobind Sagar reservoir. Nangal Dam is another dam at Nangal in Punjab downstream of Bhakra Dam.

Built on the Sutlej River, the Bhakra Dam is the second-tallest dam in Asia, after the Tehri Dam. Bhakra Nangal Dam has a height of about 207.26 m, while the Tehri dam is about 261 m tall. Tehri Dam is located in Uttarakhand and Bhakra Nangal is located in Himachal Pradesh.

In this project, a 152.40m (500 ft) high straight gravity concrete dam with a storage of 5859 million cubic metre (4.75 million acre ft) at maximum reservoir El.487.68m (1,600 ft) was contemplated. The height of the dam was based on the detailed geological information then available.

The 225.55 m high Dam is of concrete straight gravity type having a gross storage capacity of 9621 million cum. Installed capacity of Bhakra Right Bank Power House is 785 MW (5x157 MW) and that of Bhakra Left Bank Power House is 630 MW (5x126 MW).
