Help! I have a Beckett AFG oil burner in a Weils McLain 68 furnace. I practically rebuilt the thing over the past year. New nozzle/gun/electrodes (adjustment triple checked) new fire box, new fuel pump, new fire box, heat exchanger cleaned out.

Getting ready for heating season and doing some prep on a Burnham v7 steam boiler with Beckett AFG burner in a house we bought back in April. Does a great job of heating the home but needed some work. Did some initial maintenance and every thing seemed fine, but starting it up again last night I noticed a "whining" noise coming from the burner.

the problem ended up being that Beckett had installed the improper size nozzle on the burner. the outside of the burner reads 0.85X45B but brand new out of the box it came with a 0.65X60W nozzle installed on it. no clue how that nozzle size was put in the burner but no more leak now.

When changing the burner nozzle (75/80 A) I have a small leak at the flare on the Beckett AFG nozzle assembly.

I have a Peerless Boiler with a Beckett burner and an Everhot 4 or 5 gallon copper hot water tank. When the hot water tank empties, like for a bath, the furnace will run for 4-5 minutes to heat the new water in the tank, then shut down.

The Shenandoah waste oil burner uses a Beckett chassis, but that's the extent of it. A waste oil burner alone costs $3000. I have an older Magic Chef oil furnace Model #L-6A84D-1 that uses a Becket Motor Y-173377 1041352 is stamped on the motor, problem is that the furnace motor shuts off/on repeatedly several times and then just shuts off completely before house is heated.

Especially with oil there are many variables, draft, temperature of the oil and combustion air, firing rate and temperature of the HX and fire box, oil pressure, composition of the oil etc.etc. working on burners "in the old days" we had little or no application information. Experimentation. You bought a burner and stuck it in the boiler and read.
