I have elected to keep the original 6 volt electrical system and I keep it plugged into a 6 volt battery tender when stored in my garage. The problem is I need a portable 6 volt battery jump starter to carry with me in the car in case of battery failure when I am out on the road.

2013年8月2日 · Then before touching the "HOT" to the Jumper, use the car's battery and ignition to engage the starter . After the car is cranking on its own, touch the lead from the starter to the jumper's "HOT" terminal to spin the starter faster and the car should catch right away - remove the connection right away! There are 2 good methods. 1st disconnect the ground cable off the 6V battery, start the engine with the 12V jumper cables, take off the cables and quickly stick the 6V cable back on the battery before the engine stalls. This cuts the 6V battery completely out of the circuit for safety.

2023年8月11日 · Carrying a charged Optima 6 volt battery and a set of jumper cables in your trunk would be a much cheaper solution than trying to buy a 6 volt jump box. Some people already do this. The reason few people are carrying an extra Optima battery with them is they don't want to spend the cost of the extra battery.

2010年8月2日 · Don't worry about using the 12 volt jumper packs as they work fine on the 6 volt cars. Just remember to check that all your light switches (e.g.,headlights, dash, etc.) are in the OFF position BEFORE you engage the 12 volts.

2017年9月1日 · This cuts the 6v battery out of the system as one side is disconnected. Be sure all lights radio etc are turned off. Start engine then quickly disconnect the booster ground and stick the battery ground back on. You have to be quick so the car does not stall. The other way takes 2 people. One to start the car, the other to man the jumper cables.

Disconnect the ground from the battery, connect the jumper, start the car, quickly take off the jumper and stick the ground cable back on before the car stalls.

2013年8月31日 · Check battery condition. Most battery stores like NTB can check the capacity of the battery as well as its condition. Even a fairly new battery can fail. Check for bad or undersized cables. Connect a volt meter between the NEG battery terminal and the terminal on the starter, crank the engine with the ignition off. Read the voltmeter.

Do not delay or the 12 V could damage the instruments. As soon as the engine starts, disconnect the jumper and jam the lead back onto the 6V battery terminal.
