2024年1月23日 · Basically that Angel Dust as a character is fitting into the hooker-with-a-heart-of-something trope, which is fine! Tropes are there for a reason. However any time that’s rolled out, it’s hard to be truly invested for me.

The term “poison” throughout the song means toxic love because of Angel Dust’s toxic relationship with Valentino throughout both the song and the show. Also, The sentence “addicted to this feeling I can’t help but swallow”, represents the protagonist being addicted BACK towards the person who is obsessed with them.

I thought it was good. I was on the fence about Poison being so poppy and almost soulless back when we just had the lyric video, but seeing it in the context of the show I'm almost certain that was the intended effect, that combined with the hectic visuals really drives home how much Angel's existence is an intoxicating blur.

(I marked this as NSFW because of the discussion topic being about Angel's SA) I've been a casual fan ever since the actual show dropped, and while I can see the mental throughline on most of the criticisms, and even agree with some of them, one I never understood was the idea that Poison is a song that glamorizes SA and that Angel's story is a bad depiction.

Na. Angel is going to be the damsel in distress. In need of rescuing. We clearly see Angel in the hotel in what is a upcoming battle with the angels. And that narratively has to come towards the end of the season. Somewhere midseason expect Angel to be abducted or missing due to Val and the crew come to his rescue.
