I dont have any problems with this while accelerating or coasting on the freeway, just when im at real slow speeds or stopped. Also the RPM meter moves up and down.

The other expert was correct if you have a 2002 3.8 engine , Ford stopped using the ECT (coolant temp sensor) in 2001, the 2000 3.8 had a ECT but from 2001 and forward they use a CHT (cylinder head temp sensor) .
