10 buildings sustained major damage or partially collapsed in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, and 10 others were destroyed, 2 of which were demolished due to heavy damage. [1] . Several other buildings sustained varying levels of damage, including every building in the World Financial Center and most of the buildings on Vesey Street. [2]

Building 7 was a 47-storey skyscraper that formed part of the World Trade Center complex. Although it wasn’t hit by a plane on 11th September 2001, it was heavily damaged by debris that fell from the North Tower.

Two commercial airliners hijacked by terrorists were deliberately flown into the Twin Towers of the complex, resulting in a total progressive collapse that killed almost 3,000 people. It was the deadliest and costliest building collapse in history.
