Cockburn Town is the capital of the Turks and Caicos, and is the oldest settlement in the country. The small town is located on the central west coast of Grand Turk, and features a picturesque beach, and architecture reminiscent of British and Bermudian colonial styles.

Cockburn Town is located on the largest island in the Turks Islands archipelago, Grand Turk. Historic 18th and 19th century Bermudian architecture lines Duke and Front Streets in the town. The town is known for its long, narrow streets and old street lamps.

Getting to Cockburn town can be tricky if you take a wrong turn, which we did, but eventually found our way to it. Cockburn town is basically a street that runs along the ocean, it has the museum, the historic prison, a few small shops selling island wears, a few restaurants and several other small businesses.
