Saturday marks the first full day of Marines on duty in Los Angeles, one week after protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids ignited in LA.
Hortman, a Democrat, and her husband were shot at their home in Brooklyn Park, a city north of Minneapolis, on Saturday morning by a man dressed as a police officer, authorities said. Police are still searching for the suspect, named by the FBI as 57-year-old Vance Boelter, who escaped following a shootout with officers.
The suspect, a 29-year-old woman, was allegedly in possession of child sexually abusive material, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
Roughly 60 demonstrators were arrested on Friday outside the U.S. Capitol after breaching a police line of bike racks and running toward steps leading to the Capitol Rotunda.
