Globally, more than 150 companies are focusing on meat from cells, not only chicken but pork, lamb, fish and beef, which scientists say has the biggest impact on the environment.

The chicken doesn't come from a bird, but is instead grown from chicken cells. Good Meat, the California-based company supplying the lab-grown poultry, calls it cultivated chicken.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a “no questions” response to GOOD Meat, marking the company’s lab-grown chicken product safe to eat.
