A Mega Millions lottery ticket that contained all the winning numbers — bought along the western edge of the Chicago metro area, in DeKalb County — has made someone in Illinois $344 million richer this week.

The Mega Millions jackpot rose to $43 million ahead of Friday’s drawing after no one hit the jackpot on Tuesday. If someone matches all six numbers on Friday night, they can choose a one-time cash payment of $20.

It was a lucky night for a Mega Millions player in Illinois who bought the winning ticket, worth an estimated $344 million. This is the first time the Mega Millions jackpot has been won since Jan. 17, when a ticket in Arizona won the $112 million prize. The jackpot will now reset to $20 million ahead of Friday night's drawing.
