Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. decided to revoke all visas for South Sudanese citizens because the country's government failed to accept the return of its citizens being removed from the U.

The United States once cheered the creation of South Sudan as an independent nation. Now the Trump administration has abruptly revoked the visas of all South Sudanese.

He elaborated on the decision to revoke visas, which was made because South Sudan refused “to accept one of their nationals certified by their own Embassy in Washington and repatriated to their country,” and after the U.S.’s efforts to “engage diplomatically with the South Sudanese Government” were rejected.
