As a result of the police activity, PATH service had been suspended in both directions between Journal Square and Hoboken until around 8:50 a.m. The Newport/Pavonia station reopened around 10:20 a.m.

Take the PATH train to Pavonia/Newport or Exchange Place station and transfer to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail traveling toward E. 34th St. or West Side Ave. Exit at the Liberty State Park Station.

Commuters stuck at the Pavonia-Newport station can use the PATH system, which will take them to Hoboken. It is believed that this morning's high winds caused the windows to break.

At around 11:20 p.m. Friday night, NJ Transit Police heard several shots being fired at the Pavonia/Newport Light rail Station on Mall Drive East, authorities said.
