The Michigan Department of Natural Resources expects a flurry of recreational snowmobile activity this weekend.

It could go more than 40 mph. In Michigan, state-designated snowmobile trails are open Dec. 1 until March 31, weather permitting, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Michigan’s more than 6,000 miles of state-designated snowmobile trails will be free to ride this weekend. The annual Free Snowmobile Weekend is scheduled for Friday to Sunday, Jan. 17-19.
