As per the agreement, India received about 30 percent of the total waters of the Indus River system within its territory, while Pakistan received 70 percent.

Climate change has already reduced water flow in Indus; suspension of India Waters Treaty would hit at least three big hydro projects and agriculture in Pakistan.

Experts pointed out that technically India has not exited from the treaty as there is no exit clause in the Indus Water Treaty. All of them agreed that New Delhi has no reason to worry about other consequences – other than the threat of the war issued by Pakistan.
