Julia Garner is all set to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The actor is playing the female version of the villain. Her casting has left several fans confused.

In First Steps, Garner plays Shalla-Bal, the immortal empress of the plant Zenn-La and Norrin’s lover. In the comics, Norrin becomes the Silver Surfer after becoming the herald of Galactus in exchange for him sparing their planet. The sacrifice meant the lovers were separated for eternity.

Audiences got a first look at Garner as Silver Surfer when the trailer was released last week. It features Garner gliding above the city on her floating surfboard. Before the film, the Emmy Award-winner said she familiarized herself with the "Fantastic Four" and "Silver Surfer" comics.
