Today, Ely has nearly 4,000 citizens living there. As we drove north along Highway 93 toward Ely, Laureen and I were amazed at how green the mountains were. “I love greenery,” I stated.

The town of Ely, located near the state’s eastern border, is a crossroad for anyone traveling west to Northern California, east to Utah and Colorado, or south to Las Vegas.

The site is located near Ely and is considered a significant cultural site by the tribes. Three separate massacres at the site in the late 1800s led to over 750 Native Americans being killed.
