At least four people have died and nearly 600 others injured in a massive explosion that ripped through the Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran on Saturday, officials said. In a televised interview with the state broadcaster, Babak Mahmoudi, head of the Relief and Rescue Organization, confirmed the initial toll from the explosion.

A large explosion and fire at the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas wounded scores of people on Saturday, according to local news reports. The blast occurred in the Sina container yard, which is affiliated with the Ports and Maritime Organisation, at Shahid Rajaee port, approximately 1,000km south of Tehran.
