A Pennsylvania woman was taken into custody after a 2-year-old male deer she claimed as a pet was taken away by authorities alleging she was unlawfully keeping him, multiple local news outlets report.

The deer, named "Baby," has been raised by the woman — along with residents of Pennsylvania's Fayette County — since he was a fawn Toria Sheffield joined the PEOPLE editorial staff in 2024.
