Al Brown, who played Col. Stan Valchek on the hit TV series The Wire, died Friday at 83. His talent manager announced the death on the official Facebook page for the late actor.

Brown has had solo shows at the Serpentine Gallery in 2004, Tate Liverpool in 2009 and the British Museum in 2018. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2000, and is represented by Gagosian.
