Residents across Southern California woke up to pouring rain Friday as a storm system continued to move through the region.

A deputy broke the rear window of a car to rescue its driver after her vehicle went off the road and into a flooded creek, Northern California deputies said.

Sierra communities remained under a winter storm warning on Friday morning, but sunny skies are in the forecast this weekend.
