The state government will buy dozens of new buses in a bid to end long queues at stops along northern beaches and north shore routes.

Australian Federal Police officers responded to an incident on Sunday after members of the public reported seeing a man travelling on a bus from Central Station to Sydney Airport armed with a knife.
