The inspection came days after an inmate committed suicide at the jail, the eighth to die while in custody there this year.

This is the second time in the past year the jail has been found to be out of compliance with state standards.

Eight people have died in custody at the Bexar County Jail so far this year — double the number reported by this time in 2024.
