U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he was not happy with Russian President Vladimir Putin and was considering additional sanctions on Moscow, underscoring his frustration over the growing death toll in Russia's war with Ukraine.

The president also acknowledged that his plan to cajole Russia's president into ending the war in Ukraine has "turned out to be tougher."

President Trump is increasingly suggesting that he believes his Russian counterpart had become an impediment to the peace deal he aims to make.
