Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas told ESPN Monday that negotiations with Lionel Messi over a new contract remain ongoing, but said he's optimistic the team captain will be with the club to inaugurate its new stadium Miami Freedom Park in March 2026.

Lionel Messi's contract at Inter Miami is set to expire at the end of December this year.Despite several officials of the Herons suggesting that Messi would be signing a new contract soon, no new deal has been in sight as of yet.
