Both communities test their the tornado sirens at noon every Saturday. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, however, the sirens will go off several times, for three minutes at a time.

The Stoughton tornado reportedly first touched down about 6:20 p.m. in eastern Fitchburg before churning east, Capella said. The storm is reported to have hit Stoughton about 6:30 p.m., Wells said.
