Thanks to a massive bird flu outbreak in the U.S., which began in 2022, and has affected more than 135 MILLION birds, farmers don't have enough eggs to meet demand. So, we're going to have to pay more if we want them.

The buck has been passed to Waffle House customers as the company announced a 50-cent surcharge for all egg items. This comes, after a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics found a 50% increase in egg prices in the past year.

The ongoing outbreaks resulted in the "depopulation" of 13.2 million birds in December, according to federal data.
