Today Sweetheart Abbey, is one of three in Dumfries and Galloway in the care of Historic Scotland. For 600 years after its foundation, Sweetheart Abbey was also known as New Abbey.
The 14th Century Sweetheart Breviary – a handwritten prayer book for the monks – was featured at Dumfries Museum with celebration events in New Abbey.
