Each year, the parade is led by a different classic or antique automobile. This year’s chosen car honors the 100th anniversary of Chrysler with a 1930 Chrysler model 70 Royal coupe.

(The parade marked the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and also fell on the president's 79th birthday.) Now he has an opportunity to drape himself in the red, white and blue for the next 12 months.
