Heavy rains, damaging winds and dangerous floods have ravaged the South and the Midwest for days, killing at least 23 people.
The 36-hour period from Friday evening into Sunday morning will be the most dangerous, as an additional 6 to 12 inches of rain will fall over already drenched areas.
Significant severe weather and life-threatening flash flooding continue to impact much of the mid-South up through the Ohio River Valley.
Nearly 30 tornadoes were confirmed after the first wave of the storm, which will extend into the weekend. Mud smeared streets in Nashville, while Memphis and nearby towns eyed the rising Mississippi River.
The National Weather Service says that steady storms could drop up to 6 inches of rain across central Ohio and Columbus through the weekend.
