Beloved actress Mariska Hargitay is stepping behind the camera for a project close to her heart. The Law and Order SVU star is set to direct My Mom Jayne, a documentary that explores the life and legacy of her iconic mother,

Hargitay produces and directs My Mom Jayne; it’s her first time helming a feature-length project, though she has directed several episodes of SVU. Trish Adlesic, who worked with Hargitay on HBO’s 2017 documentary I Am Evidence, also produces. Lauran Bromley executive produces.

Mariska Hargitay is making her feature film directorial debut in honor of her late mother. On April 8, the 61-year-old Emmy Award-winning actress, best known for her role in NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” announced she will be producing and directing an upcoming HBO documentary that hits close to home.

The creators of the post-apocalyptic drama have previously teased the need to to expand the series into a third and possibly a fourth season.
