Millions of acres of national forests and other public lands could be sold for housing development, per language inserted into the U.S. Senate's proposed budget on June 12.

The land sale bill language requires the Interior secretary and Forest Service chief to identify up to 1,837,500 acres of BLM land and 1,447,500 acres of USFS land for sale, respectively.
