Going into the Fourth of July weekend, over two dozen Massachusetts beaches are closed, most due to unsafe bacteria levels.

Eleven beaches at the Jersey Shore are under swimming advisories Tuesday after water samples taken at them showed high levels of fecal bacteria.

It includes water sampling results and daily updates on which beaches are under advisories or have been closed. The data covers 1,244 public beaches and 574 private ones.

Four freshwater lakes in New Jersey are also under swimming advisories and a lake at a state park remains closed due to a harmful algal bloom.
